My name is Tiziano Pulcini, I was born in Rovereto in 1982 and I live in Villa Lagarina where, since 2016, my atelier has been located. I discovered my aptitude for artistic woodworking as a child, captivated by the charm of this ancient art in the family carpentry shop: ... The scent of larch could be felt even on the stairs, entering the workshop it enveloped you with stronger tones, while my grandfather, bent over the plane, worked on large reddish planks. The fire crackled in the stove fueled by wood scraps...
I believe it was my grandfather who passed on to me the passion for wood during all the days in which I watched him curiously working in the carpentry shop: thanks to him I was able to acquire not only method and knowledge, but also and above all the great love for the processing of this material, full of the scent of its land.
Over the years I have had the opportunity to perfect the technique and deepen my skills by attending the artistic turning academy "La Truciolara" under the guidance of the masters Claude Arragon and Paolo Marchetti who have confirmed my passion for the beauty of this art.
I try to cover a varied range of products, from objects useful in everyday life to personalized creations for special occasions and anniversaries, from home furnishings to art objects for enthusiasts and collectors. In this second category of products I have the opportunity not only to put into practice the woodworking techniques that I have studied, but also to give vent to creativity and my passion, in search of new shapes and harmonies.
In the objects of the Equilibrio series, turning does not only refer to cylindrical shapes, but is carried on multiple rotation axes (hence the 'off-axis'). They are art objects, which do not necessarily have a utility in the strict sense, but must be able to communicate.
For the decorations I chose not to use lasers, but to use a pyrograph, because only in this way can you obtain a truly handmade object, which can follow the lines and roundness of the surface.
In my business I have given a lot of importance to the local territory, choosing to use practically zero km wood: it is wood that I personally collect in the woods and countryside of Trentino or that I manage to recover from seasonal pruning, cuts or crop changes.
Over the years I have cultivated knowledge of plants and nature in general thanks to my passion for the mountains and for high-altitude excursions, which now also accompany me in the woodlab.
